July 2026 AMA Session: New Parting Pro Features (Events, Calendar & Decedent Care)

📘 What You'll Learn

  • Three Features, One Goal (Coordination): How Events, the Calendar, and Decedent Care work together to keep your whole team on the same page, so nothing slips through the cracks on a case.

  • Events Tied to Every Case: What an event is (any service, viewing, cremation, family meeting, pickup, or urn release), the two ways to create one, and why only a title is required to get started.

  • The Global Calendar Across All Cases: How to switch between month, week, and day views, quick-create events, click to preview details, and drag and drop to reschedule without deleting and rebuilding.

  • Unscheduled Events as a Built-In Safety Net: Why an event with no date drops into "Not Scheduled," and how that becomes a red flag to confirm a family's wishes (like a possible viewing) before you move forward with an irreversible cremation or burial.

  • Optional Color-Coded Categories: How to build your own event categories (Funeral, Cremation, Delivery, and so on), assign colors for at-a-glance clarity, and why the feature is entirely optional.

  • Decedent Location Tracking: How to log each transfer with a from/to location, reason, date, time, and notes to build a timestamped chain of custody, plus a branded Location Report you can print or share.

  • Personal Belongings Inventory: How to record every item received with its action, storage location, notes, and a photo, so you have documented proof of condition and custody from the moment items enter your care.

  • Reports, Signatures & Accountability: What the Location Report and Belongings Directive capture, why putting items in the record (not just notes) is the only way to get a printout, and how every entry automatically logs which team member made the change.

🌟 AMA Summary

This month's AMA was a product walkthrough. We covered three connected releases, with the theme of fitting new features into your day-to-day so your team stays coordinated and keeps cleaner records. Everything shown is optional and customizable, so the guidance was to start simple and add structure as you need it.

Events let your team schedule anything tied to a case, from services, viewings, and cremations to family meetings, pickups, and urn releases. You'll find them under the Events tab in any case, or you can add them from the Calendar. Only the event title is required, so name it clearly (for example, the decedent's last name plus the service), and because you can't assign an event to a team member yet, it helps to add the responsible person's name to the title. The Calendar brings every case's events into one place with month, week, and day views, a quick-create pop-up, click-to-preview, and drag-and-drop rescheduling. An event only shows on the calendar once it has a date; anything without one waits in the "Not Scheduled" list, which doubles as a useful safety net. As Will noted, logging a possible-but-unconfirmed viewing there flags it for follow-up before you move forward with an irreversible cremation or burial.

Decedent Care lives under the Care tab and has two parts. Location Tracking logs each transfer, with from and to locations, reason, date, time, and notes, into a timestamped chain of custody, while Belongings Inventory records each item along with its action, storage location, notes, and a photo, which is useful proof of condition if, say, a wedding band arrives with a missing diamond. Every entry automatically logs who made it based on who's logged in, so individual staff logins are worth setting up. Both halves generate branded, printable reports, the Location Report and the Belongings Directive with signature lines, and unlike the Notes section, using the record is the only way to get a printout. Locations, transfer reasons, and actions are all customizable under Settings, Decedent care.
